The Outsiders House sometimes hosts events for extras from the film. A list of known extras — with the scenes in which they appeared and contact information — is maintained. You never know who you might see there — and you never know who could be showing visitors around the museum.

Please check back for additional questions, answers and updates. After tickets were secured online, we journeyed downtown to board a black shuttle bus branded with ‘Stay Gold’. Danny then joined our group for his first tour experience. I didn’t want to invade his space but wish I would’ve taken the opportunity to shake his hand and thank him for saving this piece of history.

The museum was created by hip-hop artist Danny Boy O'Connor, who is a long-time fan of The Outsiders. O’Connor and his team are restoring the lounge, hall and house front to look the way they did in the movie. The rest of the house will include memorabilia including the jacket Dillon wore as Dallas Winston and Coppola’s director chair. O’Connor hopes to have the museum open and running by April 2017, the 50th anniversary of the book’s publication. The museum also includes memorabilia from the film set, including furniture, photos, posters and the leather jacket worn by Dillon’s character, Dallas Winston.

The tour consists of the house and a bus ride around the city to other filming locations. Tickets are available online and cannot be purchased at the house itself. If you happen to visit on a day where a tour is not offered, you are still encouraged to take photos of the exterior and can walk onto the porch.
Meanwhile, Columbia University continues to face criticism over its response to recent protests. Some Jewish students said protesters’ rhetoric had become more extreme, describing demonstrators ordering them away from their encampment and even flashing a Hamas logo at them. Parking is available along North St. Louis Avenue and East Independence Street. Please be mindful of our neighbors, as we are located in a residential neighborhood. We also have a lot on the property, but it only holds five vehicles.
Walk on the ground where many great actors got their start and visit with the museum director and longtime fan of the novel and movie, Danny Boy O’Connor. In addition to this piece of cinematic history, a tour of other film sites including The Admiral Twin, Circle Cinema, the railroad bridge, Crutchfield Park (where the rumble was filmed) and Johnny Cade’s House, are available. Be sure to get a photo by the bent fence railing out front; rumor has it that Swayze bent it trying to do the flip over it on the way to the rumble. Enjoy this amazing piece of iconic American film history and "stay gold." Currently, the only way to visit museum is by buying tickets to a guided tour.

We’re exploring how America defines itself one place at a time. In Mississippi, a tradition of house tours is about more than architecture. It’s a window into how a city sees its past and its ambitions for the future. Zachary Matthews, a tavern owner in Tulsa, remembers the filming of The Outsiders. A student athlete at Memorial high school, many of his fellow athletes worked as extras in the film as parts of Tulsa were transformed to look the way they did in the 60s. But O’Connor, later a member of House of Pain, says his life was changed aged 12 by The Outsiders.
The modest white bungalow with a wide front porch was used as a central set in the 1983 film “The Outsiders,” which was based on S.E. The film is based on the 1967 coming-of-age novel by Oklahoma author S.E. Now, O'Connor is preparing for a showing of a 4K Blu-ray edition of the film, part of a weekend of events of this Saturday and Sunday.
They rescue them but are burned, and Johnny breaks his back when a part of the structure collapses on him. Ponyboy reunites with his two older brothers in the hospital and then returns home. Their heroic deed makes the front page of the local paper, but a judge may send Ponyboy to a boys' home. Disillusioned by the social structure of the two gangs, Randy peacefully talks to Ponyboy about the upcoming rumble being ultimately meaningless and the two part as friends, associations set aside. Ponyboy and Two-Bit visit Johnny and Dallas in the hospital.
On August, 9, 2019, Danny Boy O’Connor, C. Thomas Howell and S.E. Hinton joined media, city and state officials, volunteers, and VIP fans to cut the ribbon that officially opened The Outsiders House Museum. A stage musical based on both the novel and film held its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in February/March 2023.
